Ten or twenty years from now I wonder if the current rash of prosecutions against CEOs and other rich people is going to be labeled a "witch hunt." No doubt in the case of Martha Stewart, it will be labeled the same, though with a "B" at the front of "witch."
Who is prosecuting these rich people? The government, which is run by rich people! I don't get it! Are they jealous of each other?
As far as I can tell, very few rich people get rich by behaving in a moral fashion. They must have the ability to use people, even step on faces, bend rules, and take advantage of others when they are down. Cheating on the stockmarket is something I assumed all these people do, given the chance.
And so what if they ruin their companies and the fortunes of their stockholders? Isn't this something that's happened for years? It's their money to spend on giant parties and several hundred pairs of shoes. Isn't that the point of being rich? You can do whatever the hell you want and it doesn't matter because you have more money than you ever had before.
