Am I a Robin Williams fan? You bet! But this is not a Morkian salutation, this is the first part of a semi-acronym that, in its fullness goes NaNoWriMo.
National Novel Writing Month is November, and there is a crazy group of thirty thousand plus folks all dedicating themselves to writing a first-draft novel in the thirty days of November. I am, of course, one of those crazy people.

I have been toying with the idea of posting the novel as I write it. It's just a first draft, mind you. It's going to have lots and lots of problems. The question is, should I post it or not? Do you want to read it as it blurts across the electrons as guided by my hyperactive fingers and maybe not so hyperactive brain?
If you want to join in, there is plenty of time. There is no real prize, except the fact that you managed to ralph up 50,000 words that are more or less in relationship to each other in 30 days or less. My goal is to have something I can work on and finish and ultimately publish.
I'm getting up every morning and writing. I'm writing while waiting for my doctor's appointment (got an hour in that way!). I'm writing in between music students. And the coolest thing about this is...I'm writing!
Whether I make the 50,000 word mark really doesn't matter to me. I just want to have a big chunk of writing done so that I am so far along on this novel that I just can't stop. Momentum. That's what I'm after. And it's starting to happen now that I'm about 3500 words into it.
It's about Albuqueruqe, about Harvard Street, where I had my shop. It's about many wild, wacky, clinically insane and only socially insane characters. Made-up but drawn from the inspiriation of true life. True life that I survived, enjoyed, hated and loved.
Let me know if you would be interested in watching this thing unfold. And by all means go over to the NaNoWriMo site and check things out. I'm having a blast!
