Playing and Singing Friday, June 26

I'll be playing at Alaskaland Gazebo on Friday, June 26, from 7—8pm.  If it rains I'll be in the big, round building somewhere, probably in the Bear Gallery, but check, around and look for signs, or ask at the Fairbank Arts Association office, which is right there on the ground floor. There will be a sign at the Gazebo as to where I've gone.

I figure it will rain. It has so far, two out of three times. I was playing earlier in the afternoon for the last couple of weeks but will only play for the Gazebo Nights hour tomorrow.

Thanks to the great folks at the Fairbanks Arts Association, it's free, so please do come by and enjoy!

Strum & Sing for Adults Postponed

Strum and Sing for Adults has been postoponed to start after the 4th of July holiday, on July 7, a Tuesday, from 7—8pm at Tartan Tundra Studio. So if you thought you missed it, you get a second chance! We are now including mandolins, ukuleles and guitars and having a ball, so don't be shy! Sign up by sending me an email. I'll need your phone number to get in touch with you. The directions to the studio, and a map to the studio are all right here on the website.

New Workshops!

A second round of month-long workshops is coming soon. Here is the line-up. Sign up NOW, as space is very limited. These will continue where we left off for those who have already taken the first month. New students can jump right in.

The cost is $45 for the entire 4 weeks. We are not offering classes on Saturdays this time around. Questions? Email me.

Beginning Celtic Fiddling
Mondays, 3—4pm:   June 29, July 13, 20, 27
 From slow, beautiful airs and waltzes on up to jigs and reels. You must be able to play fiddle and read music before attending this class. NO CLASS 4th of July weekend.

Good Old Fiddling
Tuesdays, 3—4pm:   July 7, 14, 21, 28
Learn good old American and Alaskan-style fiddle tunes. You must be able to play fiddle and read music before attending this class.

Guitar Strum & Sing for CHILDREN
Wed. afternoons: 3—4pm July 1, 8, 15, 22
This is for beginners, no experience necessary. We’ll learn simple songs that children and the whole family will enjoy. We had a lot of fun the first month! New kids welcome!

Guitar, Uke, Mando Strum & Sing for ADULTS
Tues. Evenings: 7—8,  June 23, 30, July 7, 14
This is for beginners, no experience necessary. Finally you’ll have fun with your guitar, ukulele or mandolin! This is an ongoing class that may continue through the summer just for fun. A new song every week!

Ukulele Strum & Sing for CHILDREN
TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED--let me know if you are interested. We won't hold it until we get enough students.

Fairbanks Bluegrass Camp for Kids: You Can Still Sign Up!

The Sixth Annual Bluegrass Camp for Kids (ages 5—17) starts June 25, next MONDAY. The site this year is the Fairbanks Unitarian Fellowship Hall on Pike's Landing Road.

This camp is great for getting kids started on a musical instrument! The instructors this year are from the Bearfoot bluegrass band, Alaskans all of' em!

Fiddling Tonight!

Just a reminder: I'm playing at the Gazebo in Alaskaland (Pioneer Park) from 7-8 this evening. It's free, so stop by! Ole dog may be there and need a handler, for all you dog lovers. We may have to take a Dog Tricks break in the middle, you never know.

SUMMER DEAL ON MUSIC LESSONS: Act NOW!

Sign up in June for private lessons and get your first lesson FREE. That's 25% OFF your first month's bill! It's a great way to try out an instrument: you  never know, you may enjoy playing the <insert one here> (guitar, fiddle, violin, mandolin, ukulele, viola, bodhrán). :o)

If you are already a private student you can refer a friend, and if he or she takes two months of lessons, you will get 20% OFF your next month's bill. So everyone can get a great deal for the summer! Your credit will come as the new student is preparing for his/her second month of lessons. All billing is at the end of the month, so you'll either get credit for July or August, depending on when your friend started.

If you are currently in a group class but not taking private lessons yet, you can take advantage of the private lessons deal if you sign up before the end of June.

I can only teach so many people, so don't delay on this. I have some evening time slots available as of this posting, but those do fill up quickly.

Another good reason to take summer lessons is to get the time slot you want NOW, and not have to compete for it in the rush for lesson slots that happens every Fall (Aug/Sept).
