If you play guitar, mandolin or ukulele (both types) and want to get more proficient at it and have fun at the same time, this is the class for you!
Adult Strum & Sing Class: Tuesdays at 7pm-8pm.
Teens welcome! Next session starts August 11. $45
If singing and playing at the same time is your issue, we got you covered. It helps so much to have the group to sweep you along, filling in the blanks where you fumble, and letting you get the hang of things "invisibly." Plus it is loads of fun!
Expect to learn various strumming patterns that really help bring these songs to life. Having a guitar or a mandolin amongst the ukuleles adds a combo quality to the sound and we sounded pretty darn good after this last four weeks.
We just completed our second four-week session and had a ball! Just look at this list of some of the songs we learned in the last two months:
Keep on the Sunny Side--Carter Family
Brand New Key--Melanie
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot--traditional spiritual
How Much is that Hound Dog in the Winder--Home & Jethro
Day-O--Harry Belafonte
Looking Out My Back Door--Creedence Clearwater Revival
Ripple--Grateful Dead
Jambalaya--Hank Williams
Brown-Eyed Girl--Van Morrison
Don't Pass Me By--Ringo Starr (This song was brought to class by some of the students. Great song!)
Rocky Raccoon--Beatles
April Come She Will--Simon & Garfunkel
and quite a few more!
A list is being compiled of songs for the next session, and it's looking pretty good. As you can see, no style is a barrier, we will go for the gusto!
