  • I've been teaching private music lessons for over 20 years. In October of 2008 I found a wonderful space for a music studio, and Tartan Tundra Music was born.

    Instruments taught:

    Violin/Fiddle:in many styles including Classical, Celtic, Old Timey, Alaskan, International (Russian, Scandinavian, Eastern European) and more.

    Mandolin: Mainly in Old Timey and Celtic styles, but the mandolin is just as versatile as the violin and can be used in many wonderful kinds of music.

    Guitar: Folk, rock, oldies, Celtic... Ukulele: One of the most amusing and fun instruments ever! And great for beginners of all ages!

    Viola: A viola is larger than a violin with a lovely, deep sound, but the method of playing is the same as violin.

    Bodhrán: Irish drum. There is an art to this, it isn't just whacking away on a drum head. Fun and interesting.

    Vocal Coaching: I can help you get your voice out in the open and help you sing.

Take Music Lessons via Skype, Facetime or Google

  • Taking Distance Lessons
    Distance Lessons are $36 per half hour, and $54 for 45 minutes. Lessons are taken via various apps such as Facetime, Zoom, or Google Meet. I prefer FaceTime for the quality and ease of use, but there are many ways to connect. You must have a web camera and have the app for one of on your computer, laptop, tablet or phone. Also, please let me know which one you want to use!

Winter Recital Date Set

Our Winter Recital will be Thursday, December 13, 2012. We'll be at the Noel Wien Library as usual. So now it's time to start planning what you want to play!

Last year there were some delightful group performances, trios and duets. I'd like to see students try out a duet or trio this time, too, so let me know if you are interested.

When the time is closer I will post more details about the recital. For now, let's be sure everyone knows how to play Shortnin' Bread! We'll all play that, every one of us. If you don't have the music, you can download it right here at the site, just check out the sheet music downloads link at the top of the right sidebar.

There is now a second page to the Tartan Tundra Music Studio site, and it's full of tunes to download and play! This can also come in handy if you lose your music.

You'll find it by clicking the link at the top of the right-hand sidebar, under More From Tartan Tundra.

Have fun! I'll keep adding more tunes and songs. It would be impractical to post every piece of music that all of you students learn, but I aim to get the most beloved ones up there eventually.
