Our Spring Recital is May 12, 2016 and we are already starting to learn pieces to play. Our theme is The Four Elements.
We are trying a new format this time and I'm pretty excited about it! Students (young and old) are split into four groups: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.
Instead of having one giant group piece (how could we possibly beat last Winter's Star Wars performance?) we get to have four little group sets.
Each element will play an easy round together, and all songs from the Earth group will be related to, you guessed it, Earth! Earth players will wear brown and/or green.
The same goes for the Air group, and they will wear white, grey, or sky blue.
Fire players will wear orange, red and yellow (or any combination of such), and Water players will wear blue.
Of course our interpretation of what is an "air' song or "fire" song is very loose, in order to help stimulate imaginations and give students the best possible choice of tunes.
Each group will have a chance to practice together in the month before the recital, and of course if students want to get together on their own to coordinate colors and/or practice, that's great!
More information on the recital will be posted soon and an information sheet for parents and students is given out as the time draws closer. Keep playing music!
