Summer is here, and it is a great time to learn a new instrument, or to polish up old skills. Did you take violin when you were a kid? You would be surprised how much your body remembers about playing. You'll have a head start! Or maybe you have been playing guitar since highschool but are in a rut. A summer of lessons could bring the fun and excitement back, and add new songs to your repertoire. Uke and mandolin instruction is also available. There are lesson times available now, so shoot me an email if you'd like to get started. Or call the studio at (907) 456-FIDL (3435)
In case you are interested in Scandinavian fiddling, or other international styles, or old time American fiddling, thumbs up!
How about ukulele? Four strings of fun! I am considering a ukulele workshop or two this summer, so if you are interested, please let me know. If there are enough folks, we'll do a kid workshop, and an adult workshop.
Guitar workshops are also on the menu. Something fun, with easy songs to sing and play. Again, one for kids, and one for adults.
Last, but not least, I will give at least one bodhrán workshop this summer. You do not have to own a drum, a facsimile drum with a tipper will be provided. Both kids and adults will find this fun and interesting. I'll play fiddle for you to drum along with, and you'll learn how to play to the different styles of Irish music.
However you spend your summer, music can only add to the fun.
